Here is a photo for the forum. It isn't that the quilting is extreme, it is that I restrained myself and I think it really enhanced the customers quilt.
These pictures are of the embroidery quilt that I completed for a customer. The customer brought my the embroidered blocks with the lace on it. I got the blocks and completed the quilt for her.
Dear old friends of ours, Bob and Debbie Borgstede, from St. Louis lost their son this last May from a gall stone in his pancreas. He was just 27 years old, married with a 2 year old son. He was a jazz guitarist and composer who won an ASCAP award this past year for outstanding young composer. Michelle pieced these quilts from his shirts for his family. His wife is an artist and designed the guitar design for the front of the memorial program. We had this embroidered on each quilt. I quilted these using a guitar and music note pantograph that we purchased at MQS. We made 6 quilts in all. Here are photos of 3 of them as well as a closeup of the embroidery and back. We are looking forward to a visit from them this upcoming weekend so they can pick up the quilts. We both felt honored to be a part of this memorial to him and thought we would share them with you.
This is a charity quilt for the Camp EWALU quilt auction in Strawberry point on September 15th. The owner of the Moose Patch Quilt Shop in Waverly Iowa contacted me about doing this one. Her only request were to do feathers in the rectangles. It did it all freehand....that's what I like best!
Ann sent these photos of another one of Shelly's creations. Check out the details...Kittens, bird's nests, spider webs! What fun! Thanks for the inspiration Shelly.
This is a quilt Michelle pieced and I quilted for my dad. He owned a sailboat for years on Lake Pepin in Minnesota. Michelle made the top from scraps and got the 4 boat patterns from books and magazines. I quilted the boats into each square from a stencil and freehanded the "seaweed border. Micnelle just finished the binding about 5 minutes ago.
